A bunch of veterans aren't playing, among them Whitney, Horoff, Hemsky, Khabibulin, Gagner, Dubnyk. Interesting lines and pairings. Kids getting a push today include Lander, RNH, Pitlick, Hartikainen and Potter even though he isn't a kid.
I think Team White is going to win this going away. Great day ahead!
i agree that team white has better forwards and G, but team blue has Glbert, the Nick Lidstrom of this game,
ReplyDeleteI just hope the crazy Russian doesn't decapitate someone.
ReplyDeleteNo Hamilton? Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty slanted line-up for the white team. Better forwards, overall better D, and goal-tending is not even close.
ReplyDeleteWell, TBA could be Hemsky. That would even things up, he's a killer in these games.
ReplyDeleteThose are either some weird lines or you've sold out and gone all LW-C-RW on us.
ReplyDeleteSS: Cut and paste from the Oilers website. I still prefer the C-L-R structure and will return to it post-haste.
ReplyDeletePOST-HASTE!
I hope the Barker-Gilbert pairing is an experiment that ends before the regular season starts. When we signed him on July 1st, I was afraid that they'd pair him with Gilbert and it looks like that's the plan. It might be alright as long as they don't plan on using them in the same role they had Gilbert in last year.
ReplyDeleteBut with Whitney-Petry and Smid-Peckham (based on the pairings in camp so far) as the other two groups, I don't see who they're going to use in those defensive zone situations.
Misfit: We're going to run defensive pairings out in situations they can't handle, because we don't have the horses to do otherwise. Any reason that Baker-Gilbert's uglier than the assorted other inadequate pairings we could muster?
ReplyDeleteIf Hall-Gagner-Hemsky is the top line all year, doesn't it seem like only another injury could keep Hemmer with the team?
ReplyDeleteIf he puts together a healthy season on that line, it seems like an ideal opportunity to finally put together that monster offensive season we've been waiting for all these years. That would lead to two things: 1) An extension asking price the Oilers probably wouldn't want to pay. 2) An inflated trade value at the deadline.
Of course I guess it's possible he could decide that he loves playing with those guys and sign a reasonable extension early in the year. Hopefully Tambo will be talking to him early and often.
commonfan: I think there's a lot of other things going on in a player's head when they think about signing a contract. Family, friends, how they view the management, how they like their lives in general... Hemsky strikes me as a person whose motivation isn't strictly "maximize immediate profits".
ReplyDeleteWow, Hartski!
ReplyDeleteBunz isn't supposed to get scored on by Keller.
ReplyDeleteTulepov can't turn it off.
ReplyDelete@ Steve Smith
ReplyDeleteor Lennart Petrell for that matter.
jeez .. Tulupov? wtf.
ReplyDeletefirst he's taking a penalty and subsequently manhandling Taylor Hall into the glass, then a full speed hit on Eager.
i wonder if he was told by the coaching staff to just play his game, or whether he's just that loose a canon.
O'marra doesn't even score on empty nets.
ReplyDeleteIf you put Hartikainen and Eberle on a line together you'd have Harski and Clutch.
