We are now approaching the three month mark with no end in sight. Helene Elliott (who may be the only left coast reporter) tweeted Kings' legal guru, Jeff Solomon, said he hopes for resolution on Fraser grievance in next few weeks.
That was 2 days ago, and "few weeks" may or may not be the start of the season. The NHL has a lot to do these days but one would think that the issue would be resolved before the beginning of the season. Right?
Fraser is recovering after surgery and apparently could be on skates soon. We wait.

I get the feeling that the resolution of this will hinge on Fraser's return to the ice. If so, that's sad in many ways.
ReplyDeleteThat was such a great movie...
ReplyDeleteLisa: Agreed. The fact that he could be skating soon is probably bad for the LAK. What a crazy league.
ReplyDeleteDaver: I know. A killer movie.
You've got to think that Bettman and the league office don't view this as a critical or pressing issue. If the strategy is simply to wait and see if Fraser will return soon, it seems that they just want this mess to go away.
ReplyDeleteI really have nothing left to say about the Smyth grievance, and Daver posted pretty much exactly what I was going to say in this entry already.
ReplyDeleteSo why am I still typing a response? Why indeed.
Anyone else get the feeling that Lander might surprise everyone and become a a legit #2 center in 3 or 4 years?
ReplyDeleteThe LAK v Oilers grievance/Katz's and his arena/Katz leaving to live in Vanscrewer/palpitations if RNH burns off a year of his ELC this season/worrying over Hall+Eberle+MPS in case they get an offer sheet/Khabibulin's legal difficulties/arguing over advanced stats with a 30th place team...etc etc etc...
ReplyDeleteIt's looking more and more that Oilers fans have entered some as yet to be named form of neurosis:
"Oilers deficit attention syndrome".
Hunter's right.
ReplyDeleteAs the Chocolate Watch Band said,
Let's talk about Girls
(that seems to beg for an exclamation point, no?)
I suppose if they ever manage to finish in some other spot other than dead last or perish the thought, make the playoffs one could stop worrying ane be able to chear for something.
ReplyDeleteThe cheering for last spot to get a good draft pick thing is starting to get a little old.
O.D.A.S. is weird.
ReplyDeleteI remember how I used to see hockey when the Oilers terrorised the NHL. Today of course, fans who remember those days must seem like WW2/Vietnam vets, talking about long ago battles to the youngsters.
To get an excellent view of how it USED to be for Oilers fans, look no further than any Detroit Red Wing Forum.
There, fans are totally rational when discussing all aspects of that fading but still relevant giant.
