Oilers at Sharks, G32 '10-'11

The Edmonton Oilers 10-11 will be a famous team someday. You don't have to see them on the cover of Time to know they'll be heard from this decade. A lot of very good players made their NHL debut for the copper and blue fall/winter 2010 and there may be more on the way (Petry, Hartikainen, Vande Velde).

The thing about a team like this one: you've got to pay attention. They're likely to lose tonight (Sharks won't make the playoffs this season but are better than the Oilers), but San Jose is running out a no-name defense and many are years from helping. From now on, the Oilers are a team that will force viewing because you never know when something special will happen.
--

The Oilers didn't call anyone up but I have a feeling the club is going to see some of the AHL team in January. If Brule and Cogliano continue to sink beneath everyone else on the skill list, Edmonton may decide to give others a chance. They won't flush Brule or Cogliano, but JF Jacques is probably on borrowed time at this point.
--

If the Oilers traded Souray to NJD, how many teams could put in a claim before New Jersey got him? I think there might be a trade there, with Edmonton taking on an awful contract (Lou collects them like ornaments) in return for something nice (maybe a draft pick). Souray isn't lighting it up in the land of cocoa so the point could be moot, but it would be nice to get a draft bullet for MBS.
--

The theme tonight will be rookies. SJS have Logan Couture and the Oilers have a couple of interesting kids. Here are the leading scorers among rookies:
  1. Logan Couture (SJS) 33gp, 17-7-24 +8
  2. Jeff Skinner (CAR) 32gp, 8-16-24 -5
  3. Jordan Eberle (EDM) 31gp, 9-13-22 -2
  4. Taylor Hall (EDM) 31gp, 10-9-19 -2
  5. Derek Stepan (NYR) 35gp, 9-10-19 E
  6. Kevin Shattenkirk (COL) 22gp, 5-14-19 +1
Couture is a strong candidate and Shattenkirk is coming on strong. The Oilers kids are in good position as they get closer to the halfway point of the year.

  1. I was reading somewhere (it might have been Elliot Freidman's 30 thoughts on CBC.com but I'm way to lazy to fact check) that quite a few scouts had been watching Big Sexy play but they were all less than impressed with his effort and his game. That doesn't bode well for trading the injury prone Sheldon but you are right in saying there could be a deal if the Oiler's were willing to offer Lou some cap relief.

  2. Sharks won't make the playopffs this season

    I'd wager on that.

Sharks are currently 7th in West with a points percentage of .591. They also happen to be 7th in terms of points as well.

You are right that they need D, but I'm not writing them off.

If the Oilers traded Souray to NJD, how many teams could put in a claim before New Jersey got him?

Just the Islanders and Snow/Wang isn't putting injured players on LTIR so they don't have to replace their cap hit. Not 100%, but very unlikely they put in a claim.

What do you take back from NJD? Rolston and their 1st?

If Lou doesn't want to part with his first then he can pack sand.

    Maybe Urbom? Big Swedish defender.
    Maybe Jacob Josefson? Swede Center?

Looooong shot that the Oilers win tonight, but I hope its fun to watch.

    *clap,clap*

  3. The Sharks won't make the playoffs? Yeah, that's real likely to happen.

  4. LT, were you smoking the good crack last night?

No way Jose do the Sharks miss the playoffs. They're ahead of ANA and CHI in pts per gm and only behind the div leaders by 4... an equally suspect Dallas team.

And the constant prognostication of a merit callup (which infers a send down).... reminds me of the days (months, years) when you were certain a trade was coming.

If this team is as hellbent on the playoffs as they say they are they won't have the guts to audition AHL players. The one possible exception is Reddox for JFJ but again I don't think they have the guts to put JFJ through waivers.

And finally, and I am on my smartiephone and it's a pain to check so I haven't, but if Souray were traded, wouldn't he have to go through all 30 NHL teams? At half price!

The team he is traded to would not have the waiver option or it would defeat their own trade.

Only if he were brought up would he be claimable by NJD after NYI and again at half price and no compensation. Why would Tambellini do that?

  5. LT,

I love you, but I also have to pile on and question the Sharks prediction.

They're also doing better than Anaheim and Dallas in terms of GF-GA, which is an indicator that Anaheim in particular is due for a fall.

SJ is also outshooting teams by an average of about 6 shots per game. The only team that's as good at outshooting is TB. That has to count for something.

SJ is dues for a rise in the standings.

  6. Nor can I see Diamond Lou trading his first when he's losing another some time in the next couple of years for the botched Kovy contract. Better to get a lottery pick early in the Kovalchuk contract then later (especially if its the one they're forced to lose).

    ReplyDelete
  7. Is Arnott in the last year of his deal? I'd prefer an aging RH centre over an aging winger. Does the Big Sexy have this year and next on his contract?

    ReplyDelete
  8. At the beginning of the season, ESPN picked the Sharks to win the cup 2010-2011. That's one thing. San Jose are placed as the even money favourites to win the division. That's the second thing. Do you read sports handicaps or do you just predict off the cuff like an average commenter, LT?

As that goes, I'll throw my hat down and say that I think you're also wrong that JFJ will be sent down for another guy to audition.

    ReplyDelete
  9. If the Devils would give up Josefson, that would be a major coup for Tambellini. I thought JJ really drove the bus for the Swedes when I saw them play. Good face-off man as well.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Only if he were brought up would he be claimable by NJD after NYI and again at half price and no compensation. Why would Tambellini do that?

Because he also has a handshake deal with Lou to trade an EDM seventh rounder for NJ's 2nd?

    ReplyDelete
  11. And finally, and I am on my smartiephone and it's a pain to check so I haven't, but if Souray were traded, wouldn't he have to go through all 30 NHL teams? At half price!

And who would win that re-entry waiver claim? The team that puts a claim in with the worst record. That would likely be NJ as the NYI are broke.

So Tambi could make a deal to put Sour-ay on re-entry so that NJ then claims him. If that is part of a larger trade it might work.

I can't see Lou giving up a first when they could be a lottery team. So a second, a prospect and Rolston for Strudwick?

The problem is that the Oilers would be on the hook for $5.6 million each of the next two years and 1/2 Souray's salary for this year and next.

So, yeah, it probably wouldn't work unless Uncle Darryl wants to drop $8 million next year on two guys who play like Betty White.

The only way Souray moves is in the summer when he won't have to go thru re-entry waivers.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Because he also has a handshake deal with Lou to trade an EDM seventh rounder for NJ's 2nd?

But Lou has to clear salary to get Souray on the team, so the Oilers have to take back a player - and a crappy expensive one if they want a pick/ prospect.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I was wondering when you'd finally put Kissinger and his dreamy mug in a post.

  14. So, yeah, it probably wouldn't work unless Uncle Darryl wants to drop $8 million next year on two guys who play like Betty White.

How much has the Taylor Hall marketing machine been worth to Katz so far? Another lottery pick might very easily be worth $8,000,000 in real cash.

  15. I agree that the Sharks will miss the playoffs.

That's what Dany Heatly hatred does to anyone.

Anyone that stinking rich, doing the exact thing he wants to do, and still that miserable deserves to work in a Siberian salt mine, for say, until the next round of Haley's Comet.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Only 10 more days left to get your favorite actress up on the posts, LT. ;-)

I admit surprise that SJ is in conversation as possibly not making the playoff cut (I haven't looked at the standings more than 3 times this season) but they certainly have underperformed this far. Regardless, Edm is a great team to play to get any team out of a scoring funk.

I hope DD starts tonight, but we will likely see NK to help the development of our aging keep.

  17. Jim Balsille tweeted that he's Nashville bound and its not to learn to write a country music song.

He then tweeted that at 1:00pm EST he will release a statement about his intentions in Nashville about a 3 letter acronym that isn't BBM.

    Excellent.

I'm glad Jim didn't go away. He's always full of comedy when chasing a franchise.

I wonder if the league would ok him as a minority partner in Nash?

Of course it wouldn't stop there...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sharks are a purely playoff fringe team right now who are riding on some impressive play by the forwards. Pavelski and co are taking on the tough assignments and are doing very well to be hold them off too. Their D is really thin and something that will be detrimental to long term success, but this season I dont see how they miss the post season.
There are just too many flawed teams in the 5-11 in the West. I can see Anahiem not making it because they have only 40 points in 37 games. The only reason they are up there is due to the large number of games they have already played. Maybe next season when St. Louis and Columbus does better then maybe San Jose's wont make it. But right now their top 9 is too good to miss the playoffs

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think Souray is injured again so that, combined with less than impressive AHL results, is probably trending his value toward nil.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I got it. Let's trade Jean-Francois Jacques and Marc-Antoine Pouliot for Zachary Justin Parise.

    ReplyDelete
  21. McKenzie doesn't believe the Balsillie account is real, Woodguy.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Maybe I'm out to lunch but I think the plan for big sexy is to let him rot in the A for the rest of his contract. I hope they would definitely unload him if a deal comes their way and it makes the team better, but who’s kidding who; that isn’t happening. I think the plan is to set a precedent to the league that if you bad mouth the Oilers, there will be blood.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree jonk. Didn't Big Sexy break his hand yet again? Until he stays healthy and starts seriously lighting it up on the PP in the A, I can't see another team wanting to touch him with a 10 foot pole.

From a comparison point of view, when's the last time a player tanked his own value so drastically? DiPietro, Yashin? Don't know why I automatically went to those two. Guess it's easy to think Isles when you're looking for examples of player busts.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jacques will be living on borrowed time? They're going to lend him MORE time? "Hey, what happened to that two years I gave you?"

    ReplyDelete
  25. Astonishingly Parise would possibly just screw up the Oiler's chemistry, whether on ice or cap wise.

J.F. Jacques on the other hand...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hopefully they trade Jacques to the Habs, so he can return to the Bulldogs as a fan fave. Kind of like Rem Murray in 2006.

    ReplyDelete
  27. To add to San Jose. Thornton has been a pedestrian this year.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think SJ will make the playoffs but its been an odd year, they, Chicago and the Kings would all be shooins I think everyone thought but so far not so good.

Based on the Matheson article from last week I think Jacques is about done. SOunds like patience is wearing thin. If you don't score, don't check, can't PK or win draws and you're not intimidating anyone then there's no use. We have known that for a while. It appears that ST has finally finished evaluating.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Now we'll wait for him to evaluate his evaluation.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Klowe,

I think the plan is to trade him next summer when he doesn't have to clear waivers. Teams are much more likely to take a chance on 44 for one year than 2 with his injury history and price tag.

Stauffer just mentioned that he's "stunned" that the Oilers didn't call up a Dman for the 2 games beofre Christmas.

"What happens if a Dman gets hurt during practice on game day?"

    I agree.

Its stupid little things like this that makes you fear the future moves by this team.

If they screw up the little stuff, how will they handle the big stuff.

Stauffer also mentioned that he thinks Reddox will get the call in January.

    ReplyDelete
  31. To add to San Jose. Thornton has been a pedestrian this year.

Either thats some trendy new put down I don't get or you messed that up, man.

I mean, how else would he get from his car into the rink? Is it bad that I walked today? Are you one of these guys that doesn't like to stop at cross-walks?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeah, Woodguy!

Even Tencer chimed in a few days ago on his radio show something about if you get a +3 out of Strudwick, you walk away from the table and cash in your chips while you're still ahead.

Forget that fact that they're stuck playing Struds, now with the holiday freeze they can't even replace an injured player.

Last game, the announcers replaced the "Cogliano with speed" as he entered the offensive zone with "Cogliano on his horse." I had a good laugh...

Anyone like 'the Horseman' for a Cogliano nickname from that quote?

    ReplyDelete
  33. If Reddox gets a call in January, that will be a joyous time for me.

Guys have you looked at the game notes for San Jose today? They've got like 10 guys with 30+ points!! It's ridiculous! Their third highest guy in goals has 10 more goals than our best guy. Okay, so that speaks to tonight's game expectations, and not to the long term of getting into the playoffs, but come on! It's gonna happen!

    ReplyDelete
  34. @Jay "Anyone like 'the Horseman' for a Cogliano nickname from that quote?"

I didn't hear them say that, but that is funny stuff. He's more like a jockey, though, no?

    ReplyDelete
  35. BD,

Biggest problem besides the D for SJS has to be Marleau.

Their 3rd highest paid player (just behind Heatley and Thornton at 6.9MM/yr) is also their worst +/- player this year and is 6th on the team in scoring.

    33GP 11g 13a 24pts -15

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am with you. Sharks miss the playoffs. Better teams are on the rise. Sharks have the high profile fwds but lacking at defence and goal. LA takes their playoff spot

    ReplyDelete
  37. Mind you, 24 pts puts him first on the Oilers in scoring, but he just signed a 4yr contract at pretty big coin to be the worst minus player on the team.

Maybe Traktor can go troll Sharks forums and call him out like he does with Horcoff.

    ReplyDelete
  38. LA takes their playoff spot

LA is currently 6th in the West if you look at points percentage (which you should until all teams have played the exact number of games)

LA and SJS both make it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm with WG, barring calamity in the injury dept. SJ and LA make it. Chicago too. They've had their injuries and they're starting to get going. Were missing Kane, Hossa and Stallberg and were still full value for a win over LA.

Pisani scored the inner in that game, he's on pace for ~ 15 or thereabouts, was also on their first PK unit, hardmatched against Kopitar's line with Bolland (came out on top) and was on in the last minute of the game to protect the lead. Good for Fernando.

Yeah Marleau has been meh but have to figure he will get better, like Keith and Ovechkin, he's too good to be so bad for that long.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Its stupid little things like this that makes you fear the future moves by this team.

Tambellini is using whatever he can to get this team into the bottom 5. In doing so, he has to walk a fine line that doesn't result in his players and/or coach rebelling on him. Little moves like this could be seen as part of this effort.

Hopefully guys like O'Marra, Omark, Hall, etc. continue to do their part to totally thwart the tank job.

  42. I haven't yet finished evaluating Tambellini, but right now he looks like the best new GM in the game. Hall...Magnus Paajarvi, Eberle, O'mark, Pecks...

Dumped POS, Comrie, Nilsson, Moreau, Pisani, the rotten training staff...

Like him or not, he's presiding over the second coming to this most unstable of Oiler fans. Combined with Renney, who I do know very well from NY, OIlers finally have a developing culture of excellence.

    *braces for conflicting opinions*

    ReplyDelete
  43. When JFJ leaves, then I might be persuaded.
Hell, I'd give him Toonces 3.1

    ReplyDelete
  44. My argument Hunter is that the hard stuff is yet to come.Picking Hall was easy...dumping POS and Nilsson...easy.
Making a decision on Hemsky/Penner,finding a bottom 6,finding a stay at home D,well, the jury is still out.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I do like Renney however, and I will give the entire org credit for the culture change.I no longer have to wear a bag over my head at work,so I've got that going for me.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Bloggy,

    The Jockey is just perfect!

I'm with most here with. Matheson's recent article about JFJ pretty much portends his fate. Though the jockey and Smid also have been brought under the microscope by Matheson recently, I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I can't imagine the Sharks miss out given that the Ducks are currently in the top eight but they've played 37 GP and are well ahead of both SJ and LA at this point.

I'd say put LA in for Ana and there's your top eight; including the other seven teams that currently hold down playoff spots.

The Stars are the team that's surprising me and they're 10 games over .500 but only five up in GD so there's likely to be some fall there.

Speaking of old 34, him and old 19 are guys that were let go just for the fuck of it. You can't have superstars at every position and while you can talk about changing the culture these are guys who seemed like good fellows and who were cheap to boot.

These guys would be very good bottom sixers/PKers on this club right now.

Are both guys UFA again at season's end?

Regarding tonight, it would be a nice time to see Renney go with 10 forwards and see what kind of flow that could create.

Some quotes on Reasoner from Fla players:

``Look what he's done since coming here, just on the penalty kill,'' goalie Tomas Vokoun said. ``It's not just about goals. It's about smart plays, and sometimes people don't see that. As a player, you really appreciate watching him make the right play on defense almost every single time. He's playing for the team to win, not individual statistics.''

`We've been playing well as a line,'' Matthias said. ``Marty is the brains of the group; he is such a smart player. He sees everything, helps us out between shifts. He's a pretty quiet guy, but if you ask him, he'll let you know what he thinks.

    ReplyDelete
  51. And, yeah, 22's quotes just paint him as a guy who's so bereft of confidence and gameplan that he's not long for this club or probably the league.

The one that really struck me was he was talking about how some shifts he looks like a joke out there trying to hit people and that goes perfectly with the running joke on the blogs that he doesn't need a stick to play the game.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Finally, looking at the standings it occurred to me how quickly the NW division turned into the Southeast Division in terms of housing so many shitty teams.

The Avs should have a great handle on 4th place and HIA in the first round because of it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dennis: yeah that had nothing to do with him having 8 points and -16 in 40 games.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Dumped POS

Picking up JVD in return, and costing the team more money than they would've saved by buying POS out and signing another quality D for 1-1.5. The POS move does not actually make Toonces look good.

Aside from that terrible move, the inability to bring up minor league help, resigning JFJ, Struds and JDD (and letting Pisani go) Toonces has done little to nothing to improve this team in the short-term and give them a reasonable chance at competing in less than 3 years.

Mind you, he did manage to not screw up his scouting staff's choices at the draft this past summer, so that is at least a positive by inaction.

  55. The Isles placed DiPietro on IR with knee swelling today.

I want to live in a world where they'd trade us him and their 1st for Souray and Cogs.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I want to live in a world where they'd trade us him and their 1st for Souray and Cogs.

You do know about his contract, don't you? It would totally screw the team for the next decade.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Habs fan: he was playing a role he couldn't handle. Put him on the 4th line and killing penalties and he's worth 500K.

If he was on the Habs you'd probably be trying to deal him for Hemsky;)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'd also like to point out that Tambellini could've made this team much better just by holding on to or resigning guys who were with the team very recently and were available for a song or for an amount we're already paying.

    Think of this lineup:

    Hall-Horcoff-Hemsky
    Penner-Gagner-Eberle
    MPS-Comrie-Pisani
    Brule-Cogliano-Stortini
    Omark

    Whitney-Souray
    Gilbert-Grebeshkov
    Smid-Vandermeer
    Peckham, Foster

    Dubnyk
    Khabibulin

That's not necessarily a playoff team, but it's much closer. It wouldn't have required Katz to shell much more dough than he is now. And there would still be plenty of cap room.

I do like the POS for Vandermeer deal, since the latter is useful even if he's overpaid. (I hope we resign him to a bargain third pairing deal.)

    ReplyDelete
  60. I do like the POS for Vandermeer deal, since the latter is useful even if he's overpaid.

The only issue with the JVD thing is that he is here for another year, costs more than the equivalents that were available to sign this summer and, in a move remarkably consistent for this team, is old and injury-prone/history of ankle breakage.

I have appreciated JVD's play this year, especially when the underlying numbers have shown him to be more effective than viewing by eye, but he was not a necessary piece.

Oh, and I forgot the Smac signing too. Crap as well.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh, and I forgot the Smac signing too. Crap as well.

I think that one's on Renney - by all accounts, Renny thought we needed a heavyweight. If you're a GM and your coach is adamant about something like that (that is, something that's really cheap and easy to do), I think you either give the coach what he wants or you choose a different coach. Kind of like if MacTavish said that he needed Reasoner or someone like him back.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dennis: Well. His REL Corsi on CHI is absolutely horrible.

Anyway. Idk what's so far fetched about Pacioretty :P

    ReplyDelete
  63. The DiPietro deal screws over a cash strapped team like the Isles for the next decade (unless insurance means he isn't costing them anything, then never mind), but the Oil could bury him and just consider it gravy if he ever miraculously got healthy.

That pick is going to be either Larsson or Coutruier, so buying it wouldn't be cheap. Katz might think it's worth burning $4.25 million a year forever though, especially since you never know when a medical miracle could happen.

Do people think the Isles would even make that deal?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Bar Qu, JVD is a UFA at the end of this year.

Foster, on the other hand, is signed through 2011/12. Foster has a heck of a shot but has struggled to put it in the net so far. He'll be a culprit on far more goals than he contributes to this year.

We could probably have spent $1.8MM on someone better than either of them.

Heading to the shark tank for the game tonight. Oilers jersey is hanging proudly next to the front door and ready to go.

  65. Fpv,

    Paciorrety:

    22 years old.
    87 NHL games, 6 goals, 25 pts
    82 AHL games, 25 goals, 72 points

He might turn out fairly well but he's not an elite prospect at this point.

If we're going to trade Hemsky, it needs to be for an elite prospect. Otherwise, we're better off risking losing him as an FA.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Kris: Mishandling.

    This year:

    (Leader in G before call-up)
    Hamilton GP 27 G 17 A 15 PTS 32
    Montreal GP 3 G 1 A 2 PTS 3

He's a powerforward who can skate very well. This team is in dire need of a guy like that. I know it's sample size but for now is Corsi REL is 36.6.

  67. FPB,

  71. WG: Propose something better.

ATL got Colby Armstrong + Donkeys for Hossa.

Then they got Bergfors for Kovalchuk.

What do you think Hemsky will be worth?

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm not saying they would get EXCLUSIVELY that. Just a base. Of course they wouldn't do it straight up.

Add in a 1st round + a guy who can play immediatly.

    ReplyDelete
  73. fpv,

He's 22. He's supposed to destroy the AHL.

At 22 Ryan Potulny scored 12 goals in 30 games in the AHL. And 7 goals in 35 games in the NHL.

Pacioretty is doing better than that, but not so much so as to indicate he's an elite prospect.

And the NHL sample from this year shows only that the Canadiennes don't think he's good enough to crack the roster, even though he's already 22 and has lots of pro experience.

Decent prospect but not the center piece of a Hemsky deal. Not even close.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Picking up JVD in return, and costing the team more money than they would've saved by buying POS out and signing another quality D for 1-1.5. The POS move does not actually make Toonces look good.

Vandermeer costs $2.3 for this year. A POS buyout would cost $900K this year and $400K next year. Thats $1.3 million.

According to Rel Corsi, JVM is the Oilers best D man. Getting your best Dman for $1 million net doesn't sound bad to me. Plus the story isn't over. He might be able to flip him for something at the deadline.

    Carthago delenda est.

  76. Kris: He was leading the league in Goals and projected for a 100 points! What is destroying then?

Show me a guy you think is worth Ales Hemsky.

  77. Show me a guy you think is worth Ales Hemsky.

    Keeping Ales Hemsky.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Speaking of old 34, him and old 19 are guys that were let go just for the fuck of it.

I'll give you 19 but 34 missed big chunks of his last three seasons with Colitis and was not at his best for lots of games. Given the MASH unit they were running last season, I think it was understandable they would want to go in another direction (what ever that was).

    ReplyDelete
  79. WG: Propose something better.

I propose you stop saying ridiculous things.

ATL got Colby Armstrong + Donkeys for Hossa.

Then they got Bergfors for Kovalchuk.

What do you think Hemsky will be worth?

The Hossa deal was at the deadline, a few weeks before he entered free agency. He was a rental.

    Ditto Kovalchuk.

Hemsky has a year a half left on his massive underpay deal.

If we deal him at the deadline next year after we have failed to sign him to an extension, proving to all that he will go to UFA status, then I would be happy if we got Crappyoriety or a bag of pucks signed by the ghost of some dead french player.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hemsky is on a good contract, not a massive underpay contract Kris.

I doubt he gets you the sky, but I do agree he might have as much value as a Hossa with the extra year on his deal, however, don't think he'll net you a better return.

Also, Johnny Oduya isn't chopped liver.

    ReplyDelete
  81. fpv,

I propose we trade Alexander Giroux from last year for a resurrected Cournoyer. (Assuming he's dead.)

    Giroux destroyed the AHL.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Also what did the Carthaginians do besides be prosperous to engender such hatred?

You Catos are all the same. I'll give a shout out to Belisarius and Justinian just for Bar Qu.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Uni:

Name five forwards in their prime, on RFA-only deals, who have better value relative to their contracts.

I bet you can do it, but it's not easy, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Given the MASH unit they were running last season, I think it was understandable they would want to go in another direction (what ever that was).

I'd like to call this a flaw in your logic, but I can absolutely see Steve Tambellini sitting there, deciding to let Pisani walk due to health concerns and then signing/acquiring JFJ, Vandermeer, and Foster (not to mention Ol' 3 Minute MacIntyre.)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Then they got Bergfors for Kovalchuk

Oduya, Bergfors, Cormier and a first. Not bad considering they had to trade him. I think Bergfors is outscoring Kovy all by himself.

If you are looking for someone to trade Hemsky for I think you need to look at a potential #1 Dman. Maybe Derek Forbort from LA. I'd do Forbort, Colton Tuebert and a 2nd for Hemsky.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'd say Hemmer's value has taken a massive hit recently due to his now-impossible-to-ignore health issues, but teams were still willing to shell out big for Gaborik.

Or was it just Slats bidding against himself?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Kris, I'm not sure what you mean by RFA only.

And I'm just saying Hemsky isn't likely to bring in a package better than what Hossa or Kovalchuk got.

Off the top of my head, good value contracts are Dustin Brown, Alexdre Burrows, Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Jussi Jokinen.

I guess guys like Simon Gagne, and Alex Tanguay might fall out of the prime area, but at 30 and 31 they're still arguably in their primes.

There's also a cluster of players on their second contracts like Chris Stewart.

I'm not saying Hemsky isn't valuable, I'm just saying he's not going to get you a stud D, top 6 forward, and 1st round pick. Also I think he's worth more than a Pacioretty, it's difficult to see a scenario where trading Hemsky ends well for the Oilers. Unless there's some sort of Nieuwendyk for Iginla deal.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'm not indifferent to Belgium at all, they had one of the bloodiest bastards in history as a figurehead king, not in itself that bad, but they celebrate and venerate him for using his blood money to build them nice botanical gardens and shit.

  91. Carthago delenda est.

    Fucking Romans.

I agree with Ducey. Loophole paid waaaay too much for a Kovy rental, but I guess his end game was to audition NJ as a long term home for him.

    FPB,

    I'm not proposing anything, especially a guy who isn't a point/game AHLer.

Word is that by the grace of the hockey gods (and probably human's tendency towards inertia) 83 is open to re-signing with the Oil after years of playing for terrible teams here. All thanks be to MBS amen.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Oilers site tweeted that they're without Brule, anyone know whats up there? Anyone know if he is injured? Or is he just sitting this one out?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Hey uni,

I'll agree with a lot of that. But I'd point out that none of those guys are on better deals than Hemsky. That is, Hemsky's deal is comparable with the best deals in the league. No? That's why I said "massive" underpay.

I'll admit that I was being a bit hyperbolic. Maybe "on a contract that couldn't be much better" would be a better description. But it sounds like we agree on the important points.

If they don't trade Penner or Hemsky this year, I suspect they probably shouldn't do it next year as their value becomes more and more "rental" value.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Brown is 1M cheaper, but generates a little less offense, IMO. I'd say his deal is comparable to Hemsky.

Getzlaf is a better player(?), but is 1MM more expensive. So, probably his deal is equal to Hemsky's.

    J. Jokinen is better value for sure, but fuck that's a good deal.

Burrows is a hard call because it's unclear how much of his offense he would bring with different teammates.

    Cory Perrius delenda est.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Gerta Reuss - Tambo keeps Penner(never hurt), and/or Hemsky it's basically up to the player, let's for once be cool to a departing player lol...

Renny's good, he might improve and so far so good, after 20+ years of you describe it I can't. :)

kris: Tambellini's not superman yet, but he hasn't yet majorly fucked up either. Since when can Oilers fans say this?

Bar Qu: JVD is no Lidstrom, but this is still arguably the lottery team that lands the Messier/Kurri/Coffey piece we desperately need.

    ReplyDelete
  96. kris: It's easier said than done, managing a great to shit back to great franchise.

    Let's wait and evaluate., lol.

"Steve Smith": SMac is a tough fighter. The kids Hall/O'Mark/Paajarvi/Eberle have all been left alone to date by the rest of the league.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Ribs: If Hemsky WANTS to leave, then by all means let him go any where/way he likes.

    ReplyDelete
  98. You Catos are all the same.

My particular bugaboo is the firing of Toonces. And I don't have anything in particular against Carthaginians, but they gotta go all the same!

The Kovalchuk trade is rather a bad comparison, but I don't think Hemsky's deal makes him as valuable as we think either. Essentially there is not a equivalent return on value for trading him, so you keep him and get him to sign a hometown discount - say 3 years or so. And if Penner keeps getting the love from this town then he should be resignable at about the right time for when this team demonstrates some actual competitive promise.

A good GM could do it. Toonces delenda est (and I just meaning fired, not destroyed).

    Traktor Phase?

You: Pacioretty should be destroying the AHL at 22.

Me: He was, leading G and pacing for a 100 pts.

You: We should trade Hemsky for Giroux, because he was destroying the AHL. (While being older, slower and with no pedigree)

    ?!??

Agreed it's not the same situation then Kovalchuk and Hossa, but his stock might fall to that level if his injury sidelines him for too long.

Like jeez. If you think it's shit, talk up about something better, Ducey (I believe) did by bringing up Forbort.

Oh and for the Kovyy trade, I mentionned Pacio + Player now + 1st round. I never said he would come alone either.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Even if he's gonna miss 40 games I would still have given old 34 500K a year to play on the 4th line and kill penalties.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Nobody cares about Pacioretty and that you think he's worth Hemsky. Shut up about it.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Ah, the flu is back - this ought to be good to kill a few points, further improving the draft spot

    ReplyDelete
  107. Lol smarmy boss

Canadians getting a bit of a wakeup call but I think they will be fine. Roy has been good. Hamilton first out on the PK and he is smart out there. Lander had a nice start, then a little invisible.

As for choosing between Penner and Hemsky, why? If their contract demands are reasonable then keep them both. Not sure why we feel the need to cut one of the two good forwards we have who are in their prime. If the club can afford both then sign them both.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I agree BD-and I keep them both if they want to stay.My point with Hunter earlier is that 3.0 hasn't made any difficult decisions yet..it's all been low hanging fruit thus far.Keeping Penner and Hemsky is as big of a decision as trading them(and by that I mean the contracts handed out in both dollars and term)

    ReplyDelete
  109. I like both 27-83 and if we keep them both we'd be super strong up front next year just as long as we picked up another real pivot but do we really want to bring 83 back for the 2012 season with him not being signed for 2013?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Agreed on ST Gerta.

Dennis - well if rumour is to believed (and why not? :)) then 83 wants to come back at a reasonable rate so they should get him signed then if this is the case.

The Nintendo set would have us dump 83 27 10 and 77 and of course that would mean many more years of shit and then 6 89 and the prized kids hitting the road too. Have to draw the line somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  111. SB: I'm asking opinions on what the return should be on Hemsky and using Pacioretty as a comparable.

    Read. Jeez.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Agreed on Hemsky and 12/13 Dennis. If Katz is already buying dinners and rumours are out there about negotiations there is no reason a Hemsky extension is not announced the evening of July 1.

Right after we announce the Brad Richards signing..:)

    ReplyDelete
  113. Asterisk: Well of course you don't trade Hemsky if he wants to resign.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Anyone watching this bs world jr game? the refs and Can against Swe? This is a pre-tourney right? Who is coaching team Canada?
Maybe we should play everyone figure out some actual chemistry. Or they could just play the same eight guys the whole game.

Canada would be getting killed if it wasn't for the Refs. Nice coaching Canada.

    ReplyDelete
  115. fpv: I guess the 5 or so people annoyed with your constant Hemsky for Paccioretty proposals must all be unable to read.

You've pitched this proposal in more than one blog post. No one responds positively because no one cares about what you think of Hemsky for X package of Habs junk.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Smarmy Boss:

Not sure what you have against that proposed deal. Is it the lack of 5 assets? Pacioretty is a former first round draft pick who has put in exemplary performances at every level of his career so far.

Granted, I haven't seen him play, but if scouts believe in the guy and there's evidence he can play on both sides of the puck, it is a deal worth considering.

I think you're underrating the importance of young, controllable players likely to outperform their cap hit.

I like Hemsky and want to keep him. If, however, push came to shove this is exactly the kind of deal I would want to see.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Jon K: I've asked for what would be good instead. (If that was shit)

    And Ducey answered. That's all.

    ReplyDelete
  118. @Thiru

I don't have anything against Pacioretty. I'm just tired of some kid's bad posting.

If the msm starts talking about moving Hemsky then people can come up with all the lame proposals they want.

    ReplyDelete
  119. fpv, here's the thing. No one in the organisation cares what we say here (or there would've been a trade long ago and Diane Lane would be the head of PR, making all announcements from LT's living room). So then the purpose of this place is for us to come together, have a conversation with a bunch of people about topics we care about (mainly Oiler-related). So when someone comes in with a topic that no one really wants to discuss, and then keeps discussing it, and discussing it, etc, then it gets a little intrusive.

I actually think the thread has been quite tolerant of the Pacioretty thing, considering it is a drum you have been beating to no avail for a while now. I'm not telling you to shut up about it, because the same courtesy of tolerance has been extended to my rambles and (numerous) nonsensical statements. But you do need to understand why no one else is as passionate as you are about this topic.

Pacioretty is to you what Pouliot (or is it Macdonald) is to LT (as an example). I get it. But don't expect me to share your passion (just like I don't expect you to share my passions).

BTW, Brule better be careful he's still part of this team when the trip is over.

    ReplyDelete
  120. How did Lander look tonight? It would appear that Roy played very well?

On another note, I'm rewatching Carnivale- which was a great show - on Megavideo and the audio is lagging behind the sound.

Is there some little thing I can do to fix that?

I don't mind that Habs Amerk prospect but it just seems like a silly trade proposal that blogs like these have moved beyond for years now.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Dennis: What is megavideo? If you are watching Canivale on your computer, VLC media player is the program to use. I know it allows you to change the audio latency delay up or down to correct lag.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Bar Qu: Fair enough.

Dennis: Well this blog was also promoting JFJ last year so heh.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Bure: Yeah, and your prospect is well ahead of anything JFJ ever did; not so sure about 78 though because we'd have to look at ages and the quality of the team he was playing on.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Lots of talk about 19/34 here. Bygones gentlemen. I don't think 19 slots in well as a 4th line winger, but that's just me especially on his previous contract.

Obviously the real questionable signings were 22/43/ and 33. What about dealing Brodziak for what a 4rth and picking up Fraser?

As for JVM, I don't hate the deal as much after his pre injury games...

    ReplyDelete
  125. 19 would be an unreal 4th line pivot and he might be a fine 3rd one also.

I'm just saying that in the culture change maybe guys got punted just for the fuck of it.

19 wasn't chewing up a lot of bread or blocking any paths in his old role with the Oilers and now we don't have anyone close to replacing what he could bring.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Gene Principe is getting worse. Didn't think it was possible.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Dennis: Watch using media player classic if possible. Under the play menu there is an audio option in which you can speed up or slow down the audio to match the video. Values are in milliseconds I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Beauty little play by Gilbert to Gags there for a quick breakout.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Is Tim Peel officiating this one as well? Jeesh that's weak on Storts

    ReplyDelete
  130. 6 just had a 3 minutes shift that was 1 min of PK.

Btw, that PK looked much more box than diamond.

    ReplyDelete
  131. SK: Nope. He's officiating in Dallas tonight. His teamate (Paul Devorski) Is also one of the biggest donkeys.

    Referees:Gord Dwyer, Dennis LaRue
    Linesmen:Lonnie Cameron, Brad Lazarowich

    ReplyDelete
  132. Looks like the Sharks gameplan is dump it in Strudwck's corner. Seems sensible.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Stortini has screwed over Eberle twice now by staying out there past his shift.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Dennis: Which "19" are you referring to? POS?? Or Marty Sakic?

    ReplyDelete
  135. The board work by 4, 89, 14 this period has been textbook. Need another line to get going though.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I was confused for a second too, Bruce. Surely he means Marty.

Lander was solid tonight. Roy looked okay but a bit timid.

I'm trying to get a read on Couturier and so far he looks physically dominant but I haven't seen much speed from him.

    ReplyDelete
  137. How was that not a roughing call on Boyle?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Well, considering who we're missing that was an excellent opening road period for the Oilers.

I had the chances at 5-3; 5-2 at EV and with SJ registering the game's first two chances and the Oilers with five of the period's last six.

The Oilers D did an outstanding job down low with no tap-in's or shovels available for the Sharks and I noticed 49 in particular had a great period overall; 5 and 43 were very noticeable for great work down low.

Not much happening up front outside of the 89 line though 23 did have a wraparound.

Just one SCA on the Sharks lone PP and a 4/5 performance from ROM was the first glimpse we've seen on his reported faceoff prowess; the most impressive was a clean win in his own end with less than a min left after an Oilers icing.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Excellent 1st period on the road. That's the most dump ins I've seen in one period that I can recall, especially to Strudwick's corner, who did quite well that period if you temper your expectations.

Oilers forecheck could apply a bit more pressure.

D did well at limiting the turnovers, and averting the Sharks forecheck.

I found it amusing when Debrusk mentioned Dan Boyle's job was to shut down the Oilers #1 line. A 13 year or so veteran needing to shut down a line that averages 20 years old. Impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Wolfie: it could just have easily been called interference.

I don't get all that upset by the reffing anymore but that one had me hopping.

Of course it doesn't help that I decided not to hedge on a fourplay and I've got $278 bucks on a $15 bet if the Oilers win in regulation.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Carthage - Engineering an Empire - Peter Weller - Robocop - Foster

    Its an Oilers blog.

    ReplyDelete
  142. First period Corsi: Gagner +12, Hall +11, Eberle +8, Boyle -7

    ReplyDelete
  143. I see what LT was referring to regarding the Sharks D. Not to take anything away from the Oiler forwards, but Boyle could use a little help back there.

Detroit and Van would eat this D alive.

    ReplyDelete
  144. For all of Whitney's passing ability he's been absolutely atrocious as a powerplay quarterback since day 1.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Wow. Such a horrible 5v3. Opting for the lower percentage plays every time, and then Hall got messy. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  146. For all of Whitney's passing ability he's been absolutely atrocious as a powerplay quarterback since day 1.

Well, that's supposed to be Foster's job, no? And if it isn't, why's he drawing $1.8M?

    ReplyDelete
  147. The officials have been awful this game. Hall makes a great play to get back and negate Couture and he gets called on a phantom hold. There's been at least two too many men penalties (one on each side). Eberle finally throws his hands up in frustration and if he hadn't done that the refs wouldn't have called that one either. Fuck!

Either the Sharks are really bad or this Oilers squad is improving nightly. If the Sharks don't get PPs they don't look all that dangerous offensively.

LT might be right about the Sharks...

    ReplyDelete
  148. I would also love to see JFJ or Stortini put Boyle through the boards for that open ice two fisted punch to Eberle's head.

    ReplyDelete
  149. NHL refereeing is an Fing joke. All these ticky tack calls make it look like basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  150. SJ did a great job of taking away that cross crease pass on the 5v3 although I might have fired a hard one across anyway and looked for a lucky bounce.

The Sharks are lucky to be ahead in this one. I don't think the Oilers have had any 5 alarm chances per say but they look the better bet to score.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I would be a lot more disappointed in the awful reffing if it didn't happen so consistently. By now I'm used to it... it doesn't make it any less rage inducing but I definitely can't say I'm surprised whenever I see a bad call

    ReplyDelete
  152. So because Foster sucks more I can't criticize another player? Even then, Whitney is the player handling the puck on powerplay. It seems evident to date that the coaching staff wants Whitney as the QB and Foster as the shot from the point. It would seem appropriate because Whitney can't shoot worth crap either, but to this point the results suggest that the powerplay is not working out as planned.

    ReplyDelete
  153. The Sharks live off the PP and the Oilers die by it.
If the zebras are going to see it like this I should go to bed now.

    ReplyDelete
  154. So because Foster sucks more I can't criticize another player?

No, not at all - just wasn't sure what you were criticizing him for was actually in his job description.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I honestly don't blame the refs for the call on Hall. Iffy call, sure, but one that's going to get made, period. I blame the Oilers PP. You simply can't blow the goat that badly on a 5v3, its inexcusable.

They refused to simply put it on net; they continued to move it around, looking for a perfect play, even if it was low percentage of it happening, or the pass going through.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Cherry: I'll blame the refs on that one. Hall played it exactly the way he should have. He outskated Couture and tried to take away his lane. He didn't grab onto Couture there was no hold. Couture was out of gas. Pure make-up call and a brutal one at that.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I think Khabi should have had that last one. Didn't do enough to look around his screen.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Not saying otherwise, merely that its going to get called. It never should have happened, though. Hall created that situation by some sloppy play that simply shouldn't happen on a 5v3.

Its part of the frustrating part of such a young team, but when a 5v3 goes down that way.. its hard to blame anyone but the Oilers, imo. They had a chance to bury the Sharks and flubbed it by reverting to mediocre play. They got cocky and deserved the reversal, karma-wise, at least.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I'm on a role here fellas help me out! I'm usually the silent one...

    ReplyDelete
  160. Foster is brutal.

He's too slow and he has no vision to be on the number one pp.

    He just plain sucks.

Poor Whitney he has to cover Strudwick's butt on ev and then he has to play with Foster on the PP.

    Brutal.

Do you think Brule or Cogs gets us Beauchemin(sp) out Toronto?

    ReplyDelete
  161. It's too bad this game had to go to special teams, but if that's the case 9/10 times against team Teal the Oilers will lose that battle.

I'm not one to be yelling fire the coaches, and from watching Oil Change I've liked the majority of what Renney is selling, but whoever is running the special teams should just stop.

Played a good first 30. Should be interesting to see what they have for the last 20.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I think the intermission has come at the perfect time for the Oilers. A chance to re-focus and settle down.

I think in the past this game gets out of hand in a hurry and it still might but I don't think these kids know any better and could still make a game of it.

    ReplyDelete
  163. What I found interesting was that the same line that was out for the start of the 5v4 stayed out for 5v3. I dunno, I guess I thought that Omark and PRV would have made it out to start and Gilbert on the backend. But that's just me.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I had the chances at 5-13 for that period; 5-5 at EV and a fucking disgusting 0/8 at ST considering we had a goddamn 5-on-3 opp.

For some reason the Oilers looked scared right off the bat on that two man adv because they won the first faceoff but fucked it and then after they regained the zone 6 had the puck and time he fucked it as well. Then 4 had a final chance and he tries to push it.

The game totally went off the rails for the Oilers after that and you wonder why 42 is here if he's not allowed to take a draw on the PK. That last SJ goal was torture as SJ won three fucking faceoffs in a row and all of them lead to chances.

And it was on ROM's preferred side and instead I believe it was 16-27 and then again 16 who wound up losing all the successive faceoffs.

The Oilers are fine at ST but the PK went Gong Show again.

    Again.

    ReplyDelete
  165. So the ref calls 6 for holding the stick, the Nichol rams 89 head into the glass from behind, but that's not a penalty.

    Ok then.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I can't believe how bad Gagner is on offense. Cannot read the ice at all. Passes into covered wingmen, too low in the slot, bad timing on passes and so on. Rennie's fault on the PP. The Hall line were too long on the ice and Foster is a bad passer, waits too long, for the 5 on 3.

  167. Also, anyone NOT initialed ROM have a 1/10 faceoff mark in the defensive end.

  168. Anyone else noticing that Peckham's turned a corner? He's matching up against Jumbo all night long and doesn't look out of place. For once the ringing in Ladi's ears isn't a concussion, it's the sound of Teddy passing him.

Dennis: I watched a good portion of the U20s tonight, up until Spike started showing bikini porn AKA the Hooters Snow Angels. Lander was good in the first, but invisible in the third. He was on what I would consider the Swede's first line with Landeskog, who by the way I am liking more and more. Roy should have nailed down the starters role with tonight's performance but you never know. The other Oiler prospect Hamilton appears to be the 13th forward and PK specialist, which should be viewed as a disappointment. Methinks this Foligno kid is eating his lunch.

As for the draft eligibles, Couturier was just okay. He's a large mammal to be sure, but his speed is average and his shot lacks velocity. Landeskog might catch up to him by the end of the tourney. As for the Swede defender, pass. Stock in Adam Larsson should be plummeting right now. I know he's only 17 in this tournament but he didn't show me anything other than an aggressive side, causing a senseless penalty.

  169. Agreed Wolfie,
Alot more optomism to be saved for 3rd periods for this version.

No reason for them to be really down. Lost focus for 10 minutes and Team Canada's 2nd line feasts on that sort of thing.

Wow, what the hell was that? Sharks Xmas CD? Gene has lost all credibility.

  170. DG: thank you.

Also, did Gene just have a psychic break on-air?

  171. The Oilers lost this one in that 5-on-3. I spent the whole first period and a half whining for an Oilers PP and right now I don't ever want to see another one ever again, because they went from a competitive club into the Worst Team In The History Of The World. That was flat-out horrible, disgusting, atrocious, brutal, terrible gawdawful hockey for the whole time.

Goddammit, is there anything more frustrating than a 5-on-3 that can't make a fucking pass let alone attempt a shot and clears the zone on behalf of the opponent?

Can't blame the refs when your 5-on-3 powerplay shoots itself in the fucking head.

  172. I haven't seen any of Landeskog and not much more of Couturier. Initially Couturier reminds me of Thornton.

Landeskog might be nice and I know bpa is the likely way to go. However, LW is looking a little loaded. Larsson doesn't do it for me. I'm with the crowd who thinks D-men shouldn't be drafted high(Doughty/Proger exceptions).

I'll be very disappointed if Couture wins the Calder. Hall and Eberle drive the play way more and will be in the neighborhood scoring wise if not better on a weaker offensive team.

Couture is doing the same thing Setoguchi did a couple of years ago.

  173. To be fair to SJ I thought they played that 5v3 to near perfection. The Oilers moved the puck down low several times with a chance to look across to the weak side only to have all 3 Sharks come back very low to take every bloody lane across the rink away.

When the puck got back to the point they took away the shooting lanes while keeping the triangle fairly tight.

I think the Oilers could probably have moved the puck a little quicker and I might have tried firing a hard pass into the middle anyways and hope for a crazy bounce but that was a textbook kill.

  174. The 4th line has had a couple of very effective shifts tonight.

  175. I'm sick and tired of this Boyle character already....

  176. They just need to pop the fucking cherry already and the gates will open!

  177. Can we trade Marchant with hands for a Marchant without hands of equal age? Something tells me even Marchant without hands could have gotten a decent scoring chance out of that sequence.

  178. Has 23 been out this period? I missed a bunch, but at the same time I haven't seen him yet.

  179. Omark and O'Marra haven't seen much ice in the 3rd.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I think that might have been their first shift of the period. It looked like Gagner's and Cogliano's lines sprinkled in with the odd Fraser shift sprinkled in until the O'Marra line finally got out there.

  181. I have been happy with the way the Oilers have played tonight. ELPH.

  182. Refs are for sure just collecting a paycheck tonight. They have zero interest in actually calling a game. It's both ways btw but some real head shakers.

  183. I think I saw Whitney say "Oh, thank god" when he saw that go in

    ReplyDelete
  184. If this game were 80 minutes I would guarantee an Oilers win. Congratulation Ryan Whitney!

    ReplyDelete
  185. Well that sucks. I was hoping he'd go all season without a goal.
