Saw Him.....ONCE?

This is Marshall Johnston as a California Golden Seal. He was a good defenseman whose NHL career was made possible by the 1967 expansion draft.

He is an even better scout, as his resume clearly shows. As a for instance, pretty much all of the famous NJ Devils were selected on his watch, and he was a major part of the Ottawa Senators success (along with getting a SC ring from the Hurricanes win in '06).

There is a wonderful article up this morning that serves as a reminder about just how much luck is involved in the game we all love.

Saw him good. Once!

  2. so interesting that thi sgoes against the new trend of less scouts and more technology/video (ala Buffalo).
    puts it in perspective for the Oilers. Maybe this is a goo dlesson for the Oil, take unknown coke machines late in the draft, not the 2nd round.
