Blogger Problem

I'm having a blogger problem. Lots of comments but only a few showing.

UPDATE: Deano has discovered that if you post using the Name/URL option things seem to work fine.

So please do that until blogger decides to torture someone else.

Hey Al Gore: Guess what finger I'm showing you?

55 comments:

  1. Test - I don't think its the stylesheet. I think its Blogger 'choking' on your blog 'cause its bigger than most.

Any way for you to set up another blog aand move older content over there?

  2. My post's seem to be getting through. This is another test.

  3. Deano: Maybe that's it. So, what's better than blogger that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg?

    ReplyDelete
  4. It seems to be related to the database underlying Blogger. Not having an ID appears to make it simpler for Blogger to accomplish as there's nothing to link to.

If everyone tried to use the Name/URl option with their regular ID's it may work.

  5. Lain - Every single post of mine is appearing almost instantaneously. Blogger's database appears to be tangled/crosslinked. Try logging out and posting with the Name/URL option to see for yourself.

"Maybe you're right? How to fix?"

  8. The database stuff that makes this work is a collection of links that point everywhich way. As the size of the data in your blog increases, the 'hairball' of links gets bigger and harder to manage. Its Blogger's to fix, but in the meantime, you can try splitting out the older content into another blog to make the 'hairball' that is Lowetide smaller.

P.S. That e-mail addy was no good from yahoo for me.

  9. nope another one in a shortlived comment.

  10. My daughter's email. She's not a commie, nor a big fan of funk, but shock value goes a long way at that age. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  11. And now I read that she gave me a dead email. Damn kids.

  12. Well, isn't that just a gong show?

  14. Fuck, can I blame the double-post on blogger also?

    ReplyDelete
  15. No, I never tried the commiefunk one. I tried the other one where you asked how to fix.

  17. If you are going to put an email address up, do something like this

    Bill at CZZds.com

and then explain below that zz=ar

Robots have a hard time with that kind of logic.

  18. If its not just site randomeness playing with your design, I liked the design you had about 3 hours ago better. (with the orange strip and the less radical blues).

  19. The worst thing about the Barons announcement is that it suggests we have to keep looking at the gawd-awful Oilers jerseys again this year. How can we be going with those ridiculous duds for another year?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Has anyone read this article about Dale Tallon teams with cap issues?

    Cap Issues

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hmm...I don't seem to be having any issues whatsoever when I post. *Struts*

I'm just logged in to my google account per usual.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes, I am also posting under my normal Google account as well.

  23. Blogger ate one of my comments right after Schitzo's double post so I am clueless (still)

Send a note to Blogger's tech support telling them about the symptoms - posts being eaten, differences between the comment counts outside and inside the thread, slow updating.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Test post - two of my posts eaten now.

  26. So it looks like you are not alone LT - its a blogger problem - probably nothing you can do about it other than to buy Google and fix it.

Maybe if we all pitch in.

I have $3.82, so how short are we?

  27. Fricking Al Gore. I bet he's responsible for the glaciers too.

  28. LT -

I think my site costs me like 50 bucks a year. It's not a hell of a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh, and I'm sure that your army of followrs includes one or two nerds who'd volunteer to set somthing up for you.

  30. I bet it's Burkie trying to mess with anything "Lowe" related after a Kevy called him to ask what he wanted for his first round pick in the upcoming draft.

    BURN!!

  31. Check commiefunk

Sorry if this ends up as a repost.

  32. From the trouble reports, you are getting the comments e-mailed to you but not posted.

    Sorry for the repetition.

    It appears to be widespread.

  33. Seems to work if you use a Google account.

I'd be happy to volunteer any assistance as I'm sure many here would, but this seems to be an internal blogger problem that they'll have to resolve.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well to be honest, the big problem is the guy who runs the blog. I have this overwhelming need to do something whenever there's a problem. I get delete happy, then change all the colors and backgrounds, then change the template and then one of my kids comes in and fixes it for me.

Not really an ideal system, but I'm the one who will put them through school. :-)

  35. I did set up a second blog, though.

    http://lowetide2.blogspot.com/

  36. Very weird. I was watching for activity resulting from my posts and the post count incremented from 16 to 17.

The new comment appears to be PJO's from 8:00PM ??!

Three hour lag. Database is fornicated.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I like the look of LT2, but dont change sites - that would mess me up I am pretty sure.

  38. LT
A quick domain search revealed that lowetide.com is registered in Luxemborg(??) but lowetide.ca is available.
As Coach mentioned,if you want to cut blogger loose, you can register your own domain and sign up with a host and you're off to the races for very little cash outlay.

Design/build of the site is another matter, but I've seen offers of help posted here previously, perhaps the collective mind can get something setup that is easily administered by yourself and you're free and clear of blogger hell.

Let me know and I'll register the domain for you($13 year) and we'll go from there.

  39. When SNN went tits-up for the seventeenth time, we just said to heck with it and went with Wordpress. Seems to be working out much better for all involved.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Allow me to be the first to say that Blogger has lost the room.

LT, if you pay some kind of nominal fee for a site of your own (LT.com, lowetide.ca, stanweirsaysso.com), put up a PayPal donation link and I will not only cover your costs but I will buy you some beer too. I think Tom B. does this on his site, although I am not sure if he is a beer guy. Canucks fans strike me as a bunch of chardonnay drinkers.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Its possible Blogger is caught up, but still broken and will be overwhelmed again when the traffic picks up.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just one more fan saying he'd be willing to help you set up on another host if needed.

I visit this site multiple times a day, I'd be happy to volunteer the time to help you migrate to a wordpress powered site. The only cost is whatever you'd like to pay for hosting/domain (which can be very little but given the traffic on your blog you might not want to skimp out too much, I'd say budget $150/year and you'd be fine).

I set up wordpress powered sites for local businesses for a living, I'd be honoured to do my part in contributing to the oilogosphere community.

  43. Is Blogger overwhelmed tonight?
