In preparing the post that appeared this morning I incorrectly quoted Dean Millard's comments from last night's Pipeline Show. The mistake was not made on purpose, but did in fact skew the story and imply a point of view on the part of Dean Millard and the Pipeline Show.
I apologize to Dean, Guy and those who read the item and viewed it as fact.
In my time blogging (and previously when part of the group at hfboards) I have had some access to media members like Millard and Flaming. I have found them to be open and helpful and have attempted to return the favor when opportunities presented themselves.
In this case I made an error, and will certainly make every effort to make it a one-time event.
I would have liked to have seen some kind of retraction statement like this from Gregor after he told listeners that the Heatley deal was "100% done" last summer.
ReplyDeleteWe still love you LT. Well, Dean loves you, I just like you as a friend.
ReplyDeleteGuy: The surprising thing is that I didn't misquote you, since you do most of the talking. :-)
ReplyDeleteThese boys handled it well: unlike some other fellows who like to threaten physical violence:)
ReplyDeleteWe don't know how they convinced LT that he quoted them wrong. ;)
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness, I went back to listen. Many years ago I worked in a radio newsroom where much time is spent writing out actualities. You needed them in case the cassette broke and the newsroom needed the story down the line.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm pretty good at transcribing (even if I do say so myself) and try to get it right. So, honestly and with no humility at all, I thought they were wrong right up until Dean said "no indication that he'd stay 4 years."
We can argue the value of that (I don't know how many kids know how long they'll stay in college) but the bottom line is that it was an absolute ballbuster of a misquote. If I had done that years ago in the newsroom it would have been a very big error.
As it was here.

ReplyDeleteNine years! And I'm not a doctor. My parents are so...happy that I have a job now.
