Peckham Injured

Theo Peckham was injured late in tonight's game against San Jose. Peckham took a hit from Sharks defender Doug Murray (who took a penalty on the play) in the same general area of the ice that he made that last second play late in the Friday night game.

Dan Tencer is reporting that it is a separated shoulder with considerable swelling. Tencer also reports there won't be an early timeline on his return because of the swelling.

The injury comes at a poor time for Peckham, who was playing his best hockey of the season. For a team looking for candidates for next fall's roster, this is a very important time for fringe players like Peckham.

The Oilers will likely call someone from Springfield in the next couple of days if the injury is severe; candidates include Dean Arsene and Johan Motin. Another Springfield candidate, Alex Plante, remains out of action with a concussion.

  1. i'd like to see Arsene called up, but Motin is probably the better choice from a development perspective.

  2. Eberle with 5 points in 2 AHL games.

    Well that's a good debut

  3. 6 points in 3 games FPB. Ebs scored the only goal for the falcons in a 2-1 loss.

  4. So at this point, with the team playing better, and Eberle clearly dominating ahl teams,(small sample size, but it has been impressive), do they call him up for the last 5 games or so?

  5. Speaking of AHL debuts, Jordan Schroeder scored 2 goals today in his AHL debut for Manitoba, having turned pro and signed with the Canucks.

  6. I would love it so much if i saw:

    Jordan Eberle called up

    Ethan Moreau sent down.

    Would be laughable.

  7. I'm just glad it's not another concussion.

  8. The Oilers need to sign about 53 dmen in the off season to get through next year.

Down to Arsene and Motin, then the cupboard is bare?

I like both players, but what the hell has Daum been given these last two weeks to ice on his blue line?

Pendergrast: Mr. Petry you should think of turning pro after this season.

    Petry: Why?

Pendergrast: If you weren't still playing you would suit up Tuesday against the Canucks.

  9. Two things:

    1. Does anyone know off hand what the league record for missed games due to injury is? Perhaps something new to cheer for!?

    2. I see Eberle's scoring pace has nearly ground to a halt...only one goal last game. A downward trend to be sure.

  10. We're gonna call up Eberle and I expect him to take a regular turn in our defense corps and also quarterback the powerplay. I saw him goofing around back on defense one day in practice and he had the most skill of anyone back there since Paul Coffey.

    Yours truly,

    Kevin Pendergast.

    Brilliant.

  12. So who makes it in the playoffs?

I been looking at the standings, and Colorado has the hardest schedule, but they do have games in hand and are a few points up on the Flames.

I think the final eight are set, but I think the Flames might sneek in past Colorado the last game of the year.
