The Edmonton Oilers play two games tonight, one in Edmonton and another in Saskatoon. They haven't posted the lines yet, but we do know that Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Ryan Smyth will play in Saskatoon and Taylor Hall will be in Edmonton.
The opposition: Chicago (in Saskatoon) and Minnesota (at Rexall). Both games are online at the Oilers website and both start at 7 (I'm not sure but would hope the game you don't watch would be archived for your viewing pleasure. Should be time to do all that and catch Jon Stewart/Colbert too).
Cult of Hockey is running a very interesting series on Barrie Stafford and his years with the Oilers. The latest installment is here and boasts some interesting items on the team over the years. The font is poor but the article and series are excellent.
I'll post the lines and pairings later, but it will be interesting to see how closely they match up to the day one lines and pairings:
- Gagner-Hall-Hemsky (who is injured)
- Nugent-Hopkins-Smyth-Eberle
- Horcoff-Paajarvi-Omark
- Belanger-Eager-Jones
- Brule-Hordichuk-Petrell
- VandeVelde-Tyrvainen-Hartikainen
- Lander-Tremblay-Keller
- O'Marra-Green-Ferguson*
- House-Czerwonka-Arcobello
- Pitlick-Cornet-Pelss*
- Martindale-Hamilton-Abney
- Smith*-Rieder*-Rajala*
- Whitney-Petry
- Barker-Gilbert
- Smid-Peckham
- Sutton (baby)-Potter
- Chorney-Teubert
- Tulupov-Plante
- Musil-Fedun
- Marincin-Davidson
- Motin-Blain
- Vannieuwenhuizen*-Schmidt*
- Lowery
- Gernat*
We'll get tonight's lines later, but that's an interesting group.
Hockey!!!
ReplyDelete(or some reasonable facsimile thereof where 62.5% of the players on the ice will be gone from the NHL in week)
Hockey!!!
Been some talk over a possible all-Swedish line.. don't know if we're going to see it as early as tonight tho (but it sure sounds interesting as I see Lander mix well with MPS and Omark).
ReplyDeleteEither way, should be a great night.
Btw, Bunz and Khabby shares the duty between the pipes at Rexall.
Oh.. and I can't believe Ryan Lowery is still around. The Oilers do really love their Ryans.
ReplyDeletefrom the Oil website. The Edmonton game lineup
ReplyDeleteHall - Belanger –Jones
Paajarvi – Lander – Omark
Eager – Pitlick – Keller
Martindale – House – Cornet
13 Cam Barker – 77 Tom Gilbert
8 Martin Marincin – 86 Kirill Tulupov
87 David Musil – 81 Taylor Fedun
35 Nikolai Khabibulin
30 Olivier Roy
All swede line happens! very excited to see what those kids can do.
sask game:
ReplyDeleteSmyth-Hopkins-Eberle
Tyrvainen-CVV-Hartikainen
Petrell-Brule-Hordichuk
Green-O'Marra-Hamilton
Smid-Peckham
Chorney-Petry
Davidson-Potter
Dubnyn
Roy (they have listed on the other game so not sure who will be the backup
Hall - Belanger –Jones
ReplyDeleteGod I hope this is a preseason-only thing. Because the only times that Jones and Hall should be on the ice together during the regular season are practice and pre-game warm-up.
HBomb: gagner and Hemsky are out, so I would assume Hall plays with them to start the year.
ReplyDeleteAll swede line happens! very excited to see what those kids can do.
ReplyDeleteEat a tonne of meatballs while assembling self-assemble furniture and singing Mamma Mia?
I know very little about Sweden.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIf you can only watch one game - which one do you choose and why?
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, so the all-Swedish line was true!
ReplyDeleteDBO: I asked Bunz yesterday and he said he was playing at Rexall with Khabby. So I guess that means Dubnyk and Roy in Sask.
Bookie: both simultaneously. I want to see Olivier Roy play goal in two different cities at the same time.
ReplyDeleteA 5th round pick that can manipulate time and space is definitely a keeper in my book.
I'll have to go with the Saskatoon game to see the Smyth-RNH-Eberle line and Tyrvainen-CVV-Hartikainen
ReplyDeleteshould be fun. Of course I'll flip it over to the other game from time to time.
Nobody skates around the Epaulette Line:
ReplyDeleteTyrvainen/Nugent-Hopkins/Hartikainen
but you gotta protect them from Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla.
Do not fold, spindle, mutilate, or flip over to continue filling out the other side.
We actually had those in school, circa the Henderson goal. We also had the old aniline purple Ditto machine. Everything I Know I Learned in Kindergarten from Hand Outs with Purple Splotches. Deep Purple it wasn't.
A few years later, we had a substitute teacher for nearly a full year who was on the Dolly Parton side of Erin Andrews, but with thick black hair and a less commanding eye roll. Some horny bastard took her to a KISS concert in Calgary. Probably on the back of a big rumbly bike. We heard all about it for weeks afterwards (the concert, not the bastard, this is still in the seventies after all). Less purple ink, but still not a whole lot of lesson planning going on. She dressed tight, short, and flouncy with thin shoulder straps and looked a lot like an overflowing side-by-side double scoop ice cream cone tapered to stiletto perfection.
At that age I was just cluing into the relationship between megamellons, millihelens and gagasieverts.
what
ReplyDeleteFunny, but the only Oilers defenceman I give a shit about seems to be Tulupov.
ReplyDeleteThe others either get hurt all the bloody time, are pansies(I'm sorry Tom, but standing staring with puppy dog eyes in the crease as one of your team mates gets whacked qualifies you for the hunter hate list).
Besides, my own psycho fantasy if I was a prospect would have me drilling everyone in sight, then, making the team I'd merely start hammering everyone with a different colored jersey.
And yes, I'm already drinking, although not heavily enough.

ReplyDeleteInteresting lines...I think I'll keep a close(r) eye on Lander, Pitlick, Martindale, Marincin, Tulupov and Musil this evening.
ReplyDeleteHow did we end up with Minny in town instead of CHI btw? What a crummy deal.
I wanted to see Bunz play...guess that'll have to wait.
I was reading a SUn article that talks about the injury bug hitting the Oilers hard with many guys getting broken bones in their feet due to being hit by shots.
ReplyDeleteHave the Oilers training staff not heard of Skate Fenders? THose are those clear plastic ankles guards that many pro teams are using.
I bought a pair myself after getting three fractures in my ankle last year from a slapshot and after playing 30 games in them, they are awesome. I tend to block shots a lot and many guys in my division have played minor pro or junior and the guards can take a lot.
If Horcoff was wearing Skate Fenders he wouldn't be injured. Is Katz too cheap to buy them?
All swede line happens! very excited to see what those kids can do.
ReplyDeleteYeah break out the Kottbular (meatballs) for dinner and make sure you have your Filmjölk for breakfast along with strong coffee.
I'd be more excited if they brought a planeload of Svenska beauties of which there are plenty.
The problem with the twinmelt Bruschetta is that the old Husqvarna trickle-charger ain't what it used to be. Hard for an old guy to keep a pair of double cones from tumbling down when the earth moves under your feet.
ReplyDeleteWhy does it all of the sudden feel like The Naked Lunch in here?
ReplyDeleteDeadmanWaking's non-sequiturs and barely-sequiturs are probably my favourite part of this comment section. Especially when they're about seducing the hot young high-school teacher. Ours was the chemistry teacher, Miss Pearson. Don't know of any students who managed to succeed, though: I think we were all beaten to the punch by a much older (and married) junior-high science teacher. Too bad, too: when the staff did Leader of the Pack for the talent show and she wore a midriff-baring biker-chick outfit? Goddamn.
ReplyDeleteI'm working late tonight, so I'll probably have at least one game on in the background. Do I want to watch the Swedes, or the new shiny and the Old Man of the Mountain(s)? Don't suppose they could've staggered the starts by 20 minutes or something so I'd have something to watch during intermission, eh?
If Horcoff was wearing Skate Fenders he wouldn't be injured. Is Katz too cheap to buy them?
ReplyDeleteI think the belief among forwards is that the fenders are clunky and would slow them down or be uncomfortable to skate with. It's understandable when you think about skate technology these days. They just keep getting lighter and lighter and the price keeps going up and up. Top of the line skates these days are $850-$900 dollars!
I can't see much of an excuse for defensemen not to wear them, though.
The most modern light skates seem rather counter-productive. They're so light that if you block a shot with them, they transfer near all the energy to your foot, so you'll likely burst a blood vessel or break a bone. That's what happens with me. So I stick to 15-year old Bauer 5000 technology.
ReplyDeleteI think the belief among forwards is that the fenders are clunky and would slow them down or be uncomfortable to skate with.
ReplyDeleteActually they are so light and fit to the boot so well that you never notice them. In Horcoff's case, as one who is on the PK, he might be apt to block more shots.
Mario is now developing skates as well that are made of carbon fibre and they say they will take the punishment of a shot without sacrificing weight.
I'd be happy if they came up with something that allowed you to drink a lot of shots without putting on weight.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the yahoos to come out in force with the get rid of Hemsky mantra after someone (Petrell?) scores a hattrick against scrubs. Its going to happen.
The old plastic Microns were great and dissipating shot energy. Not so great skates, though.
ReplyDeleteRishaug tweeting that the Wild are bringing Kassian to Edmonton, and thus Hordichuk will stay with the Edmonton squad and play with... Abney(?).
ReplyDeleteDelooper I had those molded Microns from bantam into midget. Before my Microns I Had a pair of Lange molded skates with tubes on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteAh memories.
I wonder if Matt Greene could manage to fit fenders over his half-inch-ankle-tape-wrap job. Would pay a lot to watch him try and skate with those old floppy leather things with the plastic knobs on the back that I learned on.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSorry, that was Eager who's injured not Hordichuk as per Tencer on twitter.
ReplyDeleteDo you think it was the hit from the crazy Russian that knocked Eager out?
ReplyDeleteThey need to make those skate fenders more stylish... What Oiler player could refuse orange furry skate fenders?
ReplyDeleteJust imagine, when Hall hits high gear that orange fur will blow in the wind like Ron Duguay's hair... awesome!
Bendelson, if they could make them like that...
ReplyDeleteSIGN ME UP!
I tried a pair of the moldened hardened models back in the day, pretty sure they were the Lange's but ended up going back to Tacks.
ReplyDeleteSkate prices today are ridiculous. Even pre-owned blades n boots are going for hundreds of dollars at the Sporting Goods stores. I don't know how parents outfit their kids for hockey these days.
"Hmm, son. Hockey or a college education son?"
"No brainer Dad!"
I'm going with the Sask. game, to see how RNH does vs. a quality defensive team.
ReplyDeleteBut I wish they could delay the start of one of them 20 minutes. ;)
Hockey!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go with a hot teacher anecdote because the Oilers D is a huge pile of youth and/or mostly shit and it's depressing to think about.
ReplyDeleteIn Grade 9 we had our first hot teacher and she taught science and math and had a medium size rack but a tiny waste and an apple ass. She actually boarded in my community and when she went for walks around the harbour we all descended further and further into puberty. Later I learned my sister's longterm boyfriend had cheated on my sister with the teacher while they went to MUN.
and I can't say I blame the guy.
In my last year we had two super hot teachers who were both 23 and on their internship and were from a neighboring community that had a lineage of hot women so we were all chasing their sisters and nieces and now they are our instructors. So guys were only 5 and 6 six years than them and it was constant sexual harasment. One of them went and complained about it - my buddy made a wooden dildo in shop class and hung it out of his shorts one spring day - but the other teacher was saucy and up for the barbs and I loved her for it. When I dropped the last bit of baby fat I prayed I'd see her at a bar in the city when I was in my early 20's and fully flush with a student loan and a 24 of labatts lite but it never happened:)
I don't know how parents outfit their kids for hockey these days
ReplyDeleteIt was never an issue for me. I simply inherited a set of Toronto Maple Leafs everything sans jersey, that I assumed had been dug up in Drumheller.
Jets on TV, Oilers on their way via laptop. There are few things I could think of that would make this any better.
ReplyDeleteA few of those were released on the internet via SJ's cell phone about this time last week.
SH: but we still lack The Pic, no?:)
ReplyDeleteBTW, Sheldon Souray just picked the scab off again.
From The Mtl Gazette:)
“I had played in two organizations before Edmonton that were top shelf,” Souray said. “First New Jersey, then Montreal. They were kind of the standard. Then you go somewhere that’s less than that and it’s: ‘Wow, this is interesting.’ ”
Read more: http://www.montrealgazette.com/Sheldon+Souray+getting+another+chance+with+Dallas+Stars/5432500/story.html#ixzz1YXnro5Vd
"Lack"? As in here, at LT's... ...or "The Pic" as in there was a particular shot you wanted? #isconfused
ReplyDeleteAs for Souray, sometimes you just have to wonder why he's still talking about it. The story begins to wear after a while and pretty soon whatever sympathy you might deserve gets lost in all of the bitching.
Unreal. Live webcast, sure... What's this "unavailable in my area" garbage?
ReplyDeleteDrat! myp2p is down. Those not living in Alberta or Saskatchewan, how are you watching these games tonight?
ReplyDeleteI don't see a link to the webcast on Oilers.nhl.com - am I missing something obvious or is this unavailable to me in WPG?
ReplyDeleteThe photos are out there, as I understand it.
ReplyDelete:-)
Dennis: Good for Souray. He was right then and maybe his statements will help improve things. Certainly if he's saying it in public then other players know his views.
Hopefully the Oilers will use it to be better.
Anybody know a way around this
ReplyDelete'not available in your area' crap?
anybody actually getting anything?
ReplyDeletedown here in Lethbridge and trying to watch either one of the games tonight online. The oiler site is saying that these games are available in my location. Anyone else in Southern Alberta having issues? I'm on Telus High speed too btw.
ReplyDeleteAt the Oilers site, right on top of the story window, you can choose the game you want.
ReplyDeleteLT's right. I'm in. (and apparently blind?)
ReplyDeleteLT: yeah, it says that. But at least in BC, it won't play.
ReplyDeleteDelooper: same thing to those of us stuck in Ontario. This is very disappointing as neither of these games are on the Centre Ice channels right now either.
ReplyDeleteRNH with a beauty sequence took the puck away twice and then got a nice shot on net. Beauty.
ReplyDeletenot getting anything in calgary, the dial just keeps spinning...watched them last year though
ReplyDeleteApparently St. Albert is too far away to be an oilers fan. No video here.
ReplyDeleteBR: Keep trying, I'm in St. Albert and watching the Saskatoon game.
ReplyDeleteSame here in NS. Anyone have an alternate thread?
ReplyDeletein calgary. the saskatoon game is on, the Edmonton game is black. Has that started yet?
ReplyDeleteDubnyk with some wonderful saves.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, how is St. Albert not in Edmonton's area?
ReplyDeleteOilers are run by douchebags
I'm in St. Albert and have the Chicago/Oiler game. So keep trying.
ReplyDeleteTuned into the SK game just in time to see that shift from 93/94/14. RNH impressed with his coverage twice - good signs.
ReplyDelete630 ched has the Minnesota game, audio.
ReplyDeleteGood enough, thanks DBO!
ReplyDeleteok, both games now here in calgary
ReplyDeletePetrell part of an effective PK.
ReplyDeletePaajarvi with a nice rush in the other game.
ReplyDeleteThe video feed from the Oilers site now works in BC! No more "check your local listings..." wow!
ReplyDeletepaarjvi has another gear.
ReplyDeletegilbert and barker grenades in their own end. oh dear
Yeah, now getting the Saskatoon game. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteI am not allowed to watch game, I guess.
ReplyDeleteClassy move, Oilers.
the game in Edmonton just worked for me. I clear my cache and cookies from my browser. Hope it works for everyone else
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I'm watching two Oiler games simultaneously with sound on one of em
ReplyDeleteGot a feed. Don't like Oiler management still :)
ReplyDeleteI switched to my work laptop and it's now working, technology baffles me.
ReplyDeleteChorney picked off an errant pass and had a dandy chance.
ReplyDeleteYay! I can watch now, too.
ReplyDeleteKeep on trying Cactus. It seems like the website changes its mind after a while.
ReplyDeleteIt's Kevin Lowe, messing with you. You personally.
ReplyDeletethe swedes will be major forecheck high event lads. lander seems to fit really well. they will scare some teams for sure and lander back checking for omark will make renney trust them
ReplyDeleteI've never seen people so disinterested in free T-shirts
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThanks Delooper. Both have kicked in now. Very happy.
ReplyDeleteStar of the EDM-CHI game so far has been Dubnyk. RNH had a wonderful shift early and other than that Davidson moved the puck up well.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I noticed.
RNH on a beauty feed from Smyth via Eberle. Nice chance, no goal.
ReplyDeleteSome nice RNH-Smyth-Eberle action.
ReplyDeleteIm in North Dakota and just now get the feeds
ReplyDeletewho passed that to hall?
ReplyDeletebarker? nice play
ReplyDeleteHall robbed on a breakaway. They should call him chance, he gets so damn many.
ReplyDeleteSimultaneous games are nice -- between the two of them there's almost as much going on as an 80's Oilers game.
ReplyDeleteKhabibulin really IS the MVP.
ReplyDeleteThat PK against the Wild was circa 2010.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shocker. Dubnyk keeps pucks out, Khabi lets em in.
ReplyDeleteBarker is high event. Nie plays on O, questionable in his own zone.
ReplyDeleteShould fit in nicely
Looks like the diamond PK is back. Brutal
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know who is coaching in Sask?
ReplyDeleteEberle with a nice chance, again courtesy Smyth. Ryan Smyth might be old, but he's freaking ready.
ReplyDeleteLordy.
Bulin mid season form. Oh my.
ReplyDeleteKhabibulin is having a stunning game.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Khabibulin cant stop anything
ReplyDeleteDo they pull goalies in preseason 1st periods?
ReplyDeleteKhabbi beat short side, over the glove. Horrible.
ReplyDeleteHarski with a great rush to the net. No surprises here.
ReplyDeleteHartikainen with a wonderful, wonderful chance. GOD ALMIGHTY WE'VE GOT A FINN!!
ReplyDeleteThe Chicago game is fun to watch!
ReplyDeleteHopkins looks effective.
ReplyDeleteWe can haz Emery plz instead Khabi?
RNH, Smyth, Eberle. Beauty line so far.
ReplyDeleteFirst period over in Saskatoon 0-0.
Hartikainen looks ready to stay. kills it in the corners
ReplyDeleteAnyone watching Minnesota? Is it solely a Khabibulin issue, or is the defence failing as well?
ReplyDeleteHall-Horcoff-Hemsky
ReplyDeleteHartikainen-Hopkins-Heberle(sp?)
Buy more H's.
Meanwhile, PM-Freakin'-Bouchard is doing his curse thing.
ReplyDeleteKhabi pretty lousy, but not too much help either. Hall had a breakaway out of nothing.
ReplyDeleteSwedes can cycle like demons
minny game: defense is suspect. Vet duo of gilbert and barker suspect in own zone and the kids are getting their show run down low.
ReplyDeletefor forwards: swede line llooking solid. Have more grit and jam then expected. Omark getting in the goalies face all game (got a penalty for it). Lander looks like he belongs and the three of them you can tell play the game the same.
No one else standing out except Hall, who while rusty is a step faster then everyone but MPS. Belanger looks solid as well. He actually won a faceoff in our own zone on the PK. Who knew that could happen
seems like it. so painful to watch. Really, cause it worked so well last year
ReplyDeleteAnything to stockpile more assets in the pipeline.
ReplyDeleteThat's how Pitt/Chi/Det did it right?
Here's an idea: if you want to run the diamond, maybe get some players who can figure it out.
ReplyDeleteBecause you know what the diamond means to me? Two defensemen hanging their heads after the puck is in the net.
Every. fucking. time.
I swear someone said they were done with the diamond. Khabibulin + diamond= lottery.
The PK I saw, they weren't running anything. They were just running around, slowly.
ReplyDeleteHartikainen with a wonderful, wonderful chance. GOD ALMIGHTY WE'VE GOT A FINN!!
ReplyDeleteAbout goddam time.
Hope he gets recalled from OKC quickly since he'll be cut in favor of Jones. *spits*
Goal for the Oilers, RNH with the shot, Smyth blocking out the sun and Eberle I believe with the goal.
ReplyDeleteSmyth picks up RNH garbage. 1-0 Oil
ReplyDeleteWe've got our first Oilers goal! That RNH-Smyth-Eberle line is looking solid.
ReplyDeleteSmyth (RNH, Chorney)
ReplyDeleteLT, didn't see the Eberle touch. But it was quick, even with a replay.
ReplyDeleteKhabibulin + diamond= lottery.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!
Really liking the road jersey, nice.
ReplyDeletethey are indeed running the f***ing diamond. unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteDitto
ReplyDeleteI heard Renney actually substituted the penalty kill formation this year but Wayne Gretzky, the consummate good samaritan, insisted on diamonds for everyone.
ReplyDeleteThis feed is killing me, anyone having any luck watching these on Chrome?
ReplyDeleteLander pots an easy one
ReplyDeleteLander from Maricin on the PP. empty netter basically.
ReplyDeleteHow do i get in on that 50/50 at the Hawks game?
ReplyDeleteHome team just scored. Anyone see who it was?
ReplyDeleteLander with a G for Team Doomed.
ReplyDeleteRe: diamond PK. Let's all just hope that they're experimenting in a meaningless preseason game. Poor results will (hopefully) force them to go away from it again.
ReplyDeletehow are the feeds for everyone else? they are pretty choppy for me.
ReplyDeleteRNH-Smyth-Eberle line starting to make this look easy.
ReplyDeleteLT: as is Dubnyk. He's had several very nice saves.
ReplyDeleteDubnyk look solid atleast.
ReplyDeleteI'm running both feeds and they both look good. I use Firefox for video streams usually.
ReplyDeleteGreen with a beauty.
ReplyDeleteEmry with his best Khabbi impersonation.
ReplyDeleteHopkins gave his defensemen some puck support in his own zone a bit ago. I haven't seen that in a while. Maybe Gagner can learn from this kid.
ReplyDeleteBookie: The advertisements play in crystal clear HD, the rest is seizure inducing.
ReplyDeleteThe Nuge looks like he belongs. He's been dangerous in the Chicago end.
ReplyDeleteSo this diamond, are both the teams trying this tonight ?
ReplyDeleteBrule with the beautiful pass. Christ.
ReplyDeleteGreat pass, Brule. Right on the tape.
ReplyDeleteFeeds run wayyyy better on firefox compared to chrome.
ReplyDeletebrule with a great centering feed...to Olesz
ReplyDeletegame stoppages seem even more annoying when you are watching two games at the same time.
ReplyDeleteferlk - word verfication, and the word I exclaimed when Brule made that perfect pass to the Chicago player
I didn't see who made that giveaway, but you don't leave any NHLer alone in the slot like that. Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI know it's pre-arranged, but it's pretty depressing to see Khabibulin stay in the net to let in 3 goals on 7 shots, but Dubnyk is pulled right after his first on a play he had no chance at.
ReplyDeleteHopefully that's not a metaphor for the goaltending this season.
Hm, apparently Brule with post-concussion syndrome still in evidence.
ReplyDeleteDo they keep faceoff stats for pre-season games? RNH has looked pretty clinical in the two whole draws I've noticed.
ReplyDeleteswedes cycle like the sedins but more speed, less physical. I hope this continues and they keep the trio together
ReplyDeleteBrule sent it to Olesz. WOrld's worst hockey play.
ReplyDeleteEver.
@Lowetide ( I don't know how to quote here :\ )
ReplyDeleteHere's an idea: if you want to run the diamond, maybe get some players who can figure it out.
Because you know what the diamond means to me? Two defensemen hanging their heads after the puck is in the net.
Every. fucking. time.
I swear someone said they were done with the diamond. Khabibulin + diamond= lottery.
Truer words have never been said.
On the positive side I think RNH looks good. :)
Swedes!
ReplyDeleteand swedes score on PP.
ReplyDeleteDBO: I don't know how they can keep Lander and RNH up to start and I'm guessing the number 1 pick has priority.
ReplyDeletePjaarvi, Lander, Omark.
ReplyDeletethe Swedish Wave on that one. Unstoppable.
ReplyDeleteHartikainen is much quicker and is excellent in the offensive zone tonight.
ReplyDeleteshowerhead: they mentioned on the minny game that Pitlick was the only one struggling on the dot, Belanger is gonna help a lot
ReplyDeleteHow close to full strength are the Wild/Hanwk lineups? I'm assuming not close at all...
ReplyDeleteI know the nuge may have priority, but asset management says you wait on him. Lander will be a solid two way player and command a lot less money. Nuge if he pans out will have a huge payday 3 yrs from his 10th game. Send him down, and then decide between Lander and Gagner this year. And Lander can play a bottom 6 game if needed. Landwer seems more advanced the RNH right now, but who knows. we'll see what happens when real games start. I know Nuge gets 9 games, and lander goes down for a bit.
ReplyDeleteFINLAND! Tyrvainen big shift
ReplyDeleteTyrvainen (Fedun)
ReplyDeleteAll tied in Khabibulinland.
Fedun may very well make this team. He's been tremendous.
ReplyDelete2-2 in Saskatoon a nice goal by the Hawks.
ReplyDeleteHopkins just turned that play around and carried it out.
ReplyDeleteNice.
team playing with confidence with Bunz in the net :)
ReplyDeleteIdeally, Smid will not be managing the point on the PP. It's really not a good role for him
ReplyDeletebunz in for bulin. here's hoping he plays well
ReplyDeleteI know it's just pre-season and the first game at that, but if I'm Sam Gagner, I'm putting the house on the market soon.
ReplyDeleteBoth RNH and Lander look ready
Bunz must feel like a million dollars right now. He's playing with house money here. No matter what he does, he's going to look stellar compared to Khabibulin.
ReplyDeleteI daresay Gagner has also looked NHL ready these past few years. Point taken in that the (younger) kids are playing well but I hope you're leaning very hard on your "I know it's only preseason" preface.
ReplyDeleteI think Lander his the AHL and RNH plays 9 games, and I also think he plays well enough to stay all year.
ReplyDeleteLander will get the call when injuries hit. Hartikainen too, although Woodguy will be heartbroken when they send Jones away.
:-)
abney knows his role. didn't wait to ask for a fight, he grabbed the wilds player who cheap shotted the oil player and pounded on him
ReplyDeleteAbney is huge. Not sure if he's much else, but he certainly has size.
ReplyDeleteAbney showing how to make player accountable. love it.
ReplyDeleteDBO
ReplyDeleteThat's what MacIntyre failed to do last year. Don't ask, just punch.
The 50/50 thing is a tease, right?
ReplyDeleteOh and now program winners!
Barker has a crazy hard shot.
ReplyDeleteCouturier with a 1G 1A tonight to lead Philly.
ReplyDeleteBrulé's line just got owned by Toews.
ReplyDeleteIs Martindale serious about this? He can't just float around in a game like this.
ReplyDeletePotter has surprised me. He's moving the puck better than I expected. Could be a good acquisition for the 7th D.
ReplyDeleteBrule looks bad.
ReplyDeleteI know he doesn't have top linemates, but he doesn't look like a 2-way, vet player. IMO>
Petry has looked very awkward this game. Hope it goes away.
ReplyDeleteTurns out RNH is actually a goon.
ReplyDeletePetrell has been effective on the PK imo. A nice player there, don't know if he plays in the NHL but he's got some things.
ReplyDeleteRoy has been real solid this period.
ReplyDeleteHow in hell much money are they giving away tonight in Saskatoon?
ReplyDeleteEberle - beautiful goal.
ReplyDelete
