Draft Update: Tyler Seguin

We're beginning to get some information on these young kids (Seguin and Hall) and as time allows I'll pass along links that you might find interesting. A great blog to follow is "Bruins Draft Watch" which has a nice interview with Mr Seguin here.

"A great way to get more offence is to get more shots."

    Ah.

I like Seguin, but he sure looks like Jim Carrey in the Grinch.

  2. The more I read about Seguin and Hall the more difficult it is to prefer one over the other.

As per TSN.ca, mentions the Oilers were pursuing this little guy:

It appears as though Norwegian scoring sensation Mats Zuccarello-Aasen is Broadway bound.

The Toronto Stars' Damian Cox is reporting that the diminutive winger has signed with the New York Rangers as a free agent.

Listed at 5'7", Zuccarello-Aasen starred for Norway at the Vancouver Olympic Games and led the Swedish Elite League in scoring this season with 64 points in 55 games (23 goals, 41 assists) while playing for MODO.

The 23-year old was reportedly heavily pursued by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers and Chicago Blackhawks. The Maple Leafs offered Zuccarello-Aasen a two-year entry level contract.

  3. Thanks for the link.

Cookie cutter type interview, but more than I've seen from any Edmonton MSM or Oiler blog.

With Coachpb bitching about access to any player under contract with the Oilers, I thought he'd interview both these guys before Allan Watt could park a Zamboni in front of them.

  4. Kevin Weekes:

"I don't know about this penalty [...] Rob Blake has made a career of the hip check."

As Rob Blake misses the hip check and clips Galiardi in the ankles.

Not his exact words, but the gyst of it.

  5. taylor hall is going to be 6"2 210lbs when he is done growing you can tell he is stronger and more dynamic i think it would be incredibly stupid for the oilers to pass on this dynamo

  6. I don't put much faith in listening to these sorts of interviews. Players know everyone is listening and they don't want to offend anyone. I think players also want to go #1 because it usually means more $$$.

  7. I'm convinced Sutton is some kind of superhuman freak. First he's taking out SUV's, now he's obliterating guys and busting through the boards in hockey rinks. Crazyness.

Working on it. We in the non-traditional media can't just snap our fingers and make it so. We have to use our stunning good looks and guile to land interviews.

Besides, I'm also working on similar-sized fish of extreme relevance right now.

  9. Thanks raven, my bad. They're both freaks.

  10. Coachpb,

Good to hear and looking forward to it.

    So don't hold my breath?

    HA!

Your interviews of the euro draft picks are excellent and hopefully can be used to show your professionalism.

  12. re: Zuccarello-Aasen

this guy is smaller than omark and on a slower dev curve. i'm not sure what the appeal is given our stated deficiencies. Obviously we don't have the swiftest mgt team, but this doesn't seem like the type of player the oilers would be looking at.

or is the theory that "one of these guys has to become st. louis!"

  13. Nice interview. The kid seems like he has head on straight. I'm glad Toronto isn't getting their hands on either of these guys.

  14. Depending on how his name is represented, Mats Zucarello-Aasen will either be first or last in an alphabetical listing of NHLers.

Current NHLers, that is. He would rate slightly behind Antti Aalto, and ahead of Andrei Zyuzin.
