Oilers Recall Minard

The Edmonton Oilers recalled Chris Minard today. We talked about the possibility last night and Minard was one of the more likely candidates for the call.

Minard has a chance to impress an organization that is in evaluation mode (especially new GM Steve Tambellini) and a quality run during this recall may bode well for Minard.

He is likely to play for the Oilers tomorrow night in Montreal.

  1. Oilers showing off their french connections to the Montreal faithful.

They can ice: Pouliot, DeLauriers, Brule, Minard, and Shawn la Horcroix.

  2. I hope he plays well, and they continue to lose and lose until they sew up being the worst team in the NHL this season. It's a pretty big indictment of the players who have been here all year if he comes in and betters the like of Nilsson, POS & the rest of the craptastics

  3. Kevin Lowe is fluent and French. Hopefully, we can get the Habs to take him too.

  4. We have two guys from Quebec on our active roster. Mathieu Darche and Maxim Lapierre, Pouliot is from Alfred Ontario, and M-A Bergeron is on IR and with a 1 year deal.

No we don't collect the frenchies or want to.

  5. Eberle with a goal tonight, I think it is #47.

  7. Awesome. It's like CM stumbled into the wrong house, drunk and stoned, searching for Doritos and a place to crash.

  8. Eberle got #48. Blades are rounding into form for their first round exit again.

  9. So I'm at the Oil Kings game tonight. Going to watch Abney if he ever gets a shift. Anyone interesting playing for CGY? Kozun bores me...

    Still haven't found a job I see.

  11. High school homework and your chores aren't jobs per se.

  12. Since it's Ask About Your Favourite Meme Week here at Lowetide, does somebody want to fill me in on the "FPB has not yet entered the workforce" thing? Is it just a shot at the sophistication of his views?

I went to a Hitmen game earlier this year and I kept noticing a tall defenceman of theirs, #28. Turns out his name is Michael Stone - he's their captain, but other than that, I don't know much about him.

I didn't find Kozun to be that interesting either, but of course he somehow finished the night with 2 points.

  14. Decent interview with Eberle. He said he's going to Springfield after Pats season is done and he's cool with that and looking forward to it.

  15. - especially old GM Kevin Lowe.

    /fixed.

I used to love Iron Maiden. I was way more into Metallica and Megadeth but the Live After Death disc was gold and then I stopped listening after No Prayer For the Dying.

I would still love to hear The Trooper live though and from what I hear Dickenson can still wail.

  16. Dennis if you haven't seen the documentary. Anvil the Story of Anvil. Do it. It's a pretty good story of that old Canadian metal band.

  17. and if you haven't seen Metal: A Headbanger's Journey it's well worth it. the sequel, Global Metal is supposed to be good too.

on a hockey note, is there anyone the oil would want to get from the habs in the offseason? aside from plekanec perhaps, but his skillset and physique do seem to be replicated, at least somewhat, up and down the roster.

  18. We really drafted a guy who isn't capable of a regular shift for a horrid WHL team? Yikes.

So far he's glided around the ice some, missed a couple passes, and marched around the bench.

Still watching for whatever "it" is supposed to be.

Noted on #28 for CGY. See what I can see.

  19. Still watching for whatever "it" is supposed to be.

Against the Blades on the weekend "it" was a tripping penalty 30 seconds into the game, leading to a serious benching.

At least I think it was serious, maybe 3 minutes of ice time is the norm.

  20. Schitzo - so far that looks about right. Amazing.

#28 for cgy is solid, makes it look pretty easy.

The Oil Kings pp is atrocious. St Croix keeps getting the puck in shooting position with time and doing nothing.

The highlight so far is the doof in the pressbox who was doing chuck-a-puck and couldn't even hit the ice. Brutal!

  22. I should never mention my age again. It's the favorite arguement of old mans who don't possess a legitimate one. You don't have an arguement? You can't destroy the argument? Well attack the person!

    Gets annoying in the end.

  23. Add to the list that Abney makes wide turns when he should be stopping, and doesn't hit with proper technique.

  24. You can't destroy the argument

    I don't think that's the problem.

The problem is that more than a few people would appreciate it if you started your own blog and posted your thoughts there, and never again here.

Plus it's your bed time now.

  25. #28 stone for cgy rips a slapper in off the post after controlling the pp and the previous pp. Nice.

  26. ha ha R.O. Beauty.

    Crombie.

We don't bust heads like we used to. What we do is tell stories, like the time RIck Ley and I were on our way to Shelbeyville.
